With already impressive performance in standard form, the Intercooled Turbo Diesel Pajero can at times be lacking in punch. When heavily loaded or towing, the lack of torque is even more pronounced - necessitating higher engine revs in a lower gear - and poor fuel economy.

By making fine adjustments to the EFI strategy - particularly to the injection timing settings, significant gains are made with Dtronic across the entire RPM range.

Right from 1,000 rpm, Dtronic boosts the engine torque and when the going gets tough, Dtronic delivers more. As can be seen from the chart above, Dtronic provides an additional 55 Nm of torque at for an outstanding total of 430 Nm and an equally impressive boost of 18 kW at for a peak power figure of 139 kW.

In order to produce these outstanding results, accurate injection timing control through the Dtronic computer is an essential function.

Accurate injection timing control is also critical not only for the best possible fuel consumption, but also to control peak exhaust gas temperatures for optimum durability.

The Dtronic computer can be simply unplugged at any time - thus returning the vehicle back to factory ECU control.
