INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

SAFARI DTRONIC - SD-181 MODEL

TO SUIT:
Prado 120 Series equipped with Factory Intercooled Turbo 1KZ-TE Engine

Remove the self-tapping screw that mounts the glove box lower tray.
Unclip lower tray and allow the front of tray to drop to floor.
Remove glove box door by pulling open door up to unclip hinges.

Remove styling trim by carefully pulling trim out to unclip.

Remove self-tapping screws from glove box liner and pry liner out taking care not to damage the accessory wiring mounted to liner.

Unplug accessory electrical plugs from glove box liner.

Remove glove box liner.

Locate the Factory Engine Control Unit (ECU). This is a silver box with four multiple wire electrical connectors, plugged in at one end.
Unplug all four unique factory connectors on the factory ECU loom from the factory ECU, by depressing the connector lock tab and gently pulling on connector body, NOT wiring.
Plug all four-factory style connectors from the Safari Dtronic loom adaptor into the factory ECU in the same order as the factory connectors.
Using Velcro sheets supplied, affix Dtronic Auxiliary module to DTRONIC Computer.

Apply supplied Velcro sheet to body (in left hand side glove box recess) and to back of Dtronic Computer.

Affix DTRONIC Computer/Auxiliary Module neatly to the left hand side of the glove box recess.
Plug the small, non-factory connectors from the Safari Dtronic loom adaptor, into the Safari Dtronic Computer and Auxiliary Module.
Remove 10mm nut and ensure that contact surface is clean. Install earth lead (brown wire) and tighten 10mm nut securely.
Plug all four-factory connectors, carefully and in the same order as they are in the factory ECU into the Safari Dtronic loom adaptor.
Carefully install the Safari Dtronic loom adaptor beside Dtronic ECU.
Pass supplied cable-tie behind factory wiring looms and secure Dtronic Loom Adaptor.
Start the engine and ensure it runs smoothly and without causing the check engine light on the dashboard to illuminate.
Re-fit the liner, lower tray and glove box assembly.

CAUTION: Ensure that all wires are protected and well clear of all potentially damaging sharp objects.
Note: To remove Safari Dtronic and return the engine back to factory computer control, follow the reverse order of instructions above. The engine will not run with the Safari Dtronic plug removed.
