HOLDEN JACKAROO UBS 3.1 TURBO DIESEL

Special Tools:

  • 89mm hole saw
  • 92mm hole saw
  • Step drill
1 Remove:
  • Plastic wheelarch liner from inner guard.
  • Air cleaner assembly.
  • Air entry ducting.
2 Tape the template onto the guard against the rear edge. Mark the hole positions using a felt pen. To mark the inner hole, bolt the guide fixture into the 2 existing holes. Mark the hole centre through the third hole.
3 Drill a 4mm pilot hole for each of the hole positions. Drill the 2 outer mounting holes to 16mm using a step drill. The larger outer hole should be cut to 89mm using a holesaw. The inner hole should be cut to 92mm using a holesaw. The drill should be held horizontal (parallel to the ground) while cutting these holes. Deburr all holes to leave a smooth edge.
4 Screw the stainless steel mounting studs into the snorkel body. Bolt the upper mounting bracket to the snorkel with two 6mm x 12mm bolts and washers. Position the snorkel on the vehicle and mark the upper bracket position on the "A" pillar. Remove the snorkel and remove the upper bracket from the snorkel. Hold the bracket in position against the pillar and mark the hole positions.
5 Drill the 2 upper mounting holes to 8mm. Paint all holes to prevent rust. Insert the plastic body clips.
6 Use a light smear of silicone to adhere the bracket gasket to the upper mounting bracket. Then, fasten the upper bracket into position on the "A" pillar. Locate the inner duct in the upper wheelarch cavity.
7 Position the snorkel on the vehicle and secure with appropriate hardware. Fit the 8mm x 120mm bolt to the snorkel and inner duct and clamp the two together. (Take care not to overtighten).
8 Fit clamps to the air cleaner connecting duct and sit the duct in place. Fit the lower mounting bracket loosely. Refit the air-cleaner assembly and tighten all the clamps and bolts.
* Ensure all joints are sealed with silicone. To ensure a waterproof finish.
9 Sit the air ram on top of the snorkel and tighten the clamp. Refit the wheelarch liner.
WARNING: IT IS THE INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ALL CONNECTIONS ARE WATER TIGHT.
