Prior to commencing the installation, it is the installer's responsibility to verify that all components and particularly the template (Item 16) are correct.
| 2 |
Remove the RHS front inner fender liner, radio aerial and plastic cover, and the air cleaner assembly in accordance with the factory service manual. |
| 3 |
Align the template (Item 16) to the edges of the right hand guard panel as shown. Tape the template to the fender with masking tape.
Mark the 4 snorkel mounting hole positions, snorkel outlet hole position and the required cut-out profile with a felt tip pen.
| 4 |
Drill a pilot hole for each of the marked positions.
Use the step-drill to drill the 4 mounting holes to 16mm diameter.
Drill the snorkel outlet hole with the 98 mm hole saw.
Use the air body saw to enlarge the snorkel outlet hole to the marked profile. Deburr and paint holes.
| 5 |
Install the upper mounting bracket (Item 4) to the snorkel body (Item 1) with hex bolts (Item 6).
Apply Loctite to each of the snorkel mounting studs (Item 7) and install into the snorkel body mounting inserts.
| 6 |
Place a strip of masking tape along the A-Pillar plastic trim and install the snorkel body (Item 1) to the fender panel.
When the snorkel body is correctly positioned, mark the 3 upper mounting bracket (Item 4) mounting hole positions onto the masking tape as shown.
| 7 |
Remove the snorkel body (Item 1) from the vehicle and remove the upper mounting bracket (Item 4) from the snorkel body.
At each of the marked upper mounting bracket hole positions, drill a pilot hole through the A-pillar trim and through the steel A-pillar behind the A-pillar plastic trim.
| 8 |
Remove the A-pillar plastic trim and apply a strip of protective cloth tape or similar along the door leading edge.
Drill the 3 marked upper mounting bracket mounting hole positions with a 4.5mm diameter drill. Deburr and paint holes to prevent corrosion.
Apply several drops of super-glue to the upper mounting bracket spacer (Item 5) and install onto the A-pillar aligned to the previously drilled holes.
| 9 |
Drill the 3 upper mounting bracket mounting hole positions in the A-pillar plastic trim with a 4.5mm diameter drill.
Re-install the A-pillar plastic trim.
Install the upper mounting bracket (Item 4) and secure with 3 pop-rivets (Item 10).
| 10 |
Use a hacksaw to cut the aerial mount plastic cover as shown. Use a medium/fine file to neaten the cut.
Re-install the plastic cover back onto the panel and install the aerial extension (Item 13). Secure the extension with a cap screw (Item 14).
| 11 |
Install the snorkel body (Item 1) to the fender and secure with body washers (Item 8) and nyloc nuts (Item 9).
Secure the snorkel body to the upper mounting bracket (Item 4) with 2 hex bolts (Item 6).
| 12 |
Place a 80/100mm hose clamp (Item 12) loosely over each end of the air entry hose (Item 11) and install loosely on to the snorkel body outlet snout. |
| 13 |
Remove and discard the inlet snout from the air cleaner assembly base. |
| 14 |
Install the adaptor duct (Item 3) over the air cleaner base inlet (note orientation of adaptor duct) and mark the positions of the mounting holes.
Drill the 4 marked holes on the air cleaner base inlet with a 4.5mm diameter drill.
| 15 |
Apply Sikaflex sealant to the outer surface of the air cleaner base inlet.
Install the adaptor duct (Item 3) onto the air cleaner base inlet.
Secure with 4 pop-rivets (Item 10).
| 16 |
Re-install the air cleaner base as you guide the adaptor duct entry (Item 3) into the air entry hose (Item11).
Fasten the air cleaner assembly with the original mounting hardware and install the air cleaner element and lid.
With the air entry hose (Item 11) correctly aligned at both ends, tighten the 80/100mm hose clamps (Item 12) at each end of the air entry hose (Item 11).
