Tape the template in position on the upper rear corner of the left hand guard. Mark the hole positions with a felt pen. To mark the inside hole position, measure down from the inner guard lip 72mm and forward from the firewall 310mm. Re-check these measurements several times until the positions intersect in the same place. |
| 3 |
Drill a 4mm pilot hole for each position. Drill the 5 mounting holes to 16mm. Cut the main outer hole using an air hacksaw. Cut to the outside of the line. (Apply tape to the surrounding paintwork to prevent damage). Cut the inner hole to 89mm using a holesaw. Deburr all the holes to leave a smooth edge. Paint the inner hole to prevent rust. |
| 4 |
Remove the self tapping screw from the guard up above the main holes. Place a ring of rubber edging around the inner hole. |
| 5 |
Grind the ribs off the engine side of the air cleaner base. Remove the ribs inside the air cleaner base to allow for the new air entry. Cut a new air entry hole in the side of the air cleaner to match the flange on the poly duct. Drill four 7mm holes in the poly duct flange, to be used as mounting holes. Sit the duct on the air cleaner body and drill four (4) holes in the air cleaner to match. |
| 6 |
Place a bead of silicone around the duct flange and bolt the duct to the air cleaner base using four 6mm x 16mm bolts, washers and NYLOC nuts. Remove the plastic duct from the original air entry and blank off the hole into the air cleaner using the plastic blank off plug. Secure the plastic plug in place using 13mm S/T screws. Smear silicone around the inside edge of the plug and in the air cleaner drain holes to ensure a waterproof seal. Place the rubber connecting hose on the duct snout. |
| 7 |
Refit the air cleaner to the vehicle. Screw the studs into the back of the snorkel. Bolt the upper mounting bracket to the snorkel using three 6mm x 12mm bolts. Position the snorkel on the vehicle and fasten with appropriate hardware. Secure the rubber hose with hose clamps. The upper mounting bracket is held to the pillar by five 4mm pop rivets. |
8 |
Shorten the self tapping screw by 5-7mm and refit it to the guard lip. Place the air ram on top of the snorkel and secure using a clamp. Refit the wheelarch liner. |
