Tape the template in position on the upper rear corner of the guard. Using a felt pen, mark the hole positions then remove the template. |

Drill a 4mm pilot hole for each position. Open the 3 mounting holes out to 16mm using a step drill. Using an 86mm hole saw, cut the main hole. Continue this hole through the inner panels until you reach the engine bay (MQ=2 panels; MK=3 panels). The hole saw should be horizontal while cutting this hole. After drilling and cutting, deburr all the holes to leave a smooth edge. |

Screw the 3 stainless steel mounting studs into the relevant holes in the back of the snorkel. Fasten the upper mounting bracket to the snorkel body using two 6mm bolts and washers. Sit the snorkel in position on the vehicle, and mark the upper bracket position on the "A" pillar. Remove the snorkel from the vehicle. Remove the bracket from the snorkel and hold it in position on the pillar. Mark the hole locations and remove the bracket. Drill the 3 holes to 8mm. |
5
Paint all upper and lower mounting holes to prevent rust. Insert the plastic body clips into the 3 upper holes. Secure the upper mounting bracket onto the pillar using the 4.2 x 13mm self tapping screws. |
6
Place a ring of rubber edging around the inner hole. Sit the snorkel in position on the vehicle, and secure using appropriate hardware. |
7
Sit the air ram on top of the snorkel and secure using the clamp provided. Refit the guard liner to the wheel arch. |

Connecting the pre-cleaner to the snorkel:
MQ Models: Cut the snout of the pre-cleaner to a length of 13mm. Then refit the pre-cleaner assembly to the vehicle. Use the full 300mm length of ducting to connect the snorkel to the pre-cleaner. Secure both ends of the ducting using the 60/80 hose clamps provided. Place rubber edging along the battery carrier to prevent the ducting from rubbing through.
MK Models: Cut the ducting to a length of 140mm. Place the ducting on the snorkel snout and straight onto the pre-cleaner snout. Secure using a 60/80 hose clamp at each end.

Ensure the duct joining the air cleaner to the pre-cleaner is sealed and clamped adequately. |
