Tape the template to the upper rear corner of the left hank guard and mark the hole positions with a felt pen. Remove the template. Drill a 4mm pilot hole for each of the holes. The 4 mounting holes should be opened to 16mm using a stepdrill. The main hole should be cut 83mm using a holesaw. The drill should be held horizontal (parallel to the ground) while cutting this hole. |
| 3 |
To cut the inner hole use the existing 8mm hole as the hole centre. Open the hole to 89mm using a holesaw. Deburr all the lower mounting holes to leave a smooth edge. |
| 4 |
Bolt the upper mounting bracket to the snorkel body. Screw the two (2) stainless steel studs into the lowest hole position in the back of the snorkel body. Use a light smear of silicone to adhere the foam body gasket to the snorkel body. The same method should be used to join the upper bracket gasket to the upper mounting bracket. |
| 5 |
Position the snorkel on the vehicle and mark the upper mounting holes on the "A" pillar. Remove the snorkel and drill the holes to 8mm. Paint all the mounting holes to prevent rust. Insert the plastic body clips into the upper mounting holes. |
| 6 |
Drill a 6mm hole in the underside of the 90o elbow casting. This hole should finish about 4mm away from the end of the casting without the bead. |
| 7 |
Place a bead of silicon around the inside edge of the casting (the end without the bead). Hold the casting in place in the upper wheelarch cavity, then position the snorkel body on the vehicle. The snout of the snorkel should slide inside the casting. Secure to the snorkel with the 13mm S/T screw through the 6mm hole. Ensure the joint is sealed thoroughly with silicone. Fasten the snorkel using appropriate hardware. |
| 8 |
Place a ring of rubber edging around the inner hole. Lubricate inside both ends duct and fasten with a clamp. |
| 9 |
Drill and tap the boss on the adapter casting to 6mm x 1.0mm. Place a bead of silicone around the inside of the large end of the casting. Thread the small end of the casting through to the rubber connecting hose. Secure the casting in place with the lower mounting bracket and a clamp onto the connecting hose. |
| 10 |
Sit the air cleaner back in position and fasten it to the adapter casting with pop rivets. Ensure the joint is thoroughly sealed with silicone. Tighten all the bolts in place. |
| 11 |
Fit the air ram to the top of the snorkel and fasten the clamp. Refit the wheelarch liner. |
