Tape the template into position on the upper rear corner of the guard. Using a felt pen, mark the hole positions. Remove the template. Use a tape measure to measure the inner hole dimensions. From the firewall forward 320mm, and down 60mm from the underside of the fender mounting lip. Mark the location where these dimensions intersect. Re-check the dimensions 3 or 4 times to be sure. |
| 3 |
Drill a 4mm pilot hole for each of the marked positions. The 3 smaller lower mounting holes are to be drilled 16mm using a stepdrill. The main outer hole and the inner hole are to be cut 86mm using a holesaw. The drill should be held horizontal while cutting this hole. (Beware of the wiring loom in the upper wheelarch cavity while drilling the inner hole). Deburr all the holes to leave a smooth edge. |
| 4 |
Bolt the upper mounting bracket to the snorkel body. Screw the stainless steel studs into the inserts in the back of the snorkel body. Sit the snorkel in position on the vehicle and mark the upper bracket location on the "A" pillar. Remove the snorkel from the vehicle. |
| 5 |
Remove the bracket from the snorkel. Position the bracket on the "A" pillar and mark the hole positions. Remove the bracket, then drill the holes to 8mm. |
| 6 |
Paint all holes to prevent rust. |
| 7 |
Apply a thin film of silicone to the back face of the snorkel body. Sit the gasket in position on the snorkel and press firmly to adhere it to the silicone. Fit rubber edging around the inner hole. Insert the plastic body clips into the "A" pillar and secure the upper bracket in position using the black S/T screws. |
| 8 |
Position the snorkel on the vehicle and secure using the appropriate hardware. Spray some lubricant down the inside of the connection hose and slide the hose into the snorkel snout. Place two 50/70 clamps at each end of the hose. |
| 9 |
On diesel vehicles (naturally aspirated engines) air inlet sleeve (Item no: 16) will need to be fitted, refer to drawing. Install air ram assembly to the snorkel body and fasten.
N.B: Do not fit air inlet sleeve (Item no: 16) to turbo diesel or petrol engine vehicles
|
| 10 |
Refit the wheelarch liner to the vehicle. On a petrol vehicle, the ignition coil may have to be relocated to a convenient location. |
| WARNING: IT IS THE INSTALLERS RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ALL CONNECTIONS ARE WATER TIGHT. |
